Who we are

findacreche.ie is a directory of registered childcare facilities in Ireland, operated by an individual based in Ireland. This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Tusla — Child and Family Agency.

What data we collect

This site does not require you to create an account, submit any forms, or provide any personal information. We do not collect names, email addresses, or any other personally identifiable information.

The childcare facility data displayed on this site is sourced from publicly available Tusla registers and inspection reports.

Location data (“Near me” search)

If you use the “Use my location” feature, your browser will ask for permission to share your approximate location. If you grant permission, your coordinates are sent to our server solely to find childcare facilities near you. Your coordinates are not stored in our database, not shared with third parties, and are not used for any purpose other than returning nearby results for that single request.

This feature relies on your browser's built-in Geolocation API. You can decline the permission prompt — the rest of the site functions normally without it. You can also revoke location access at any time in your browser settings.

The legal basis for this processing is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), given when you click “Use my location” and approve the browser permission prompt.

Analytics

If you consent to cookies, we use PostHog to collect anonymous usage data to help us understand how visitors use the site. This includes:

• Pages visited
• Device type and screen size
• Browser type
• Country and general location (not precise)
• Referring website

This data is anonymous and cannot be used to identify you. No analytics data is collected until you accept cookies. You can find more information in PostHog's privacy policy.

Legal basis for processing

Where analytics data is collected, the legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), given via the cookie consent banner. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies.

Data retention

Anonymous analytics data is retained for up to 12 months, after which it is automatically deleted.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access any personal data we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of your data
• Restrict or object to processing
• Data portability
• Lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie)
